Useclarity ("Clarity", "we", "us", or "our") operates the useclarity.cc platform. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our service.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information: When you register, we collect your name, email address, and password (stored securely using bcrypt hashing).

Workspace Data: We store the content you create including tasks, documents, standup entries, chat messages, and file attachments.

Usage Data: We collect information about how you interact with our service, including pages visited, features used, and actions taken.

Payment Data: Payment processing is handled by Paddle (for card and PayPal). We do not store your full payment card details.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide, maintain, and improve our service
  • To process transactions and send billing-related communications
  • To send transactional emails (OTP verification, invitations, standup reminders)
  • To provide AI-powered features using OpenAI (text is sent to OpenAI for processing and is not used for training)
  • To respond to customer support requests
  • To detect and prevent fraud or abuse

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on secure servers hosted in Germany (Contabo). File attachments are stored in S3-compatible object storage with presigned URLs for secure access.

We implement industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption, JWT authentication with short-lived tokens, and bcrypt password hashing.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with:

  • Paddle: Payment processing (card/PayPal subscriptions)
  • Brevo (Sendinblue): Transactional email delivery
  • OpenAI: AI text editing features (data is not used for model training)
  • Contabo: Server and object storage hosting

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your workspace, all associated data (projects, tasks, documents, members, invitations) is permanently deleted. Account data is retained until you request deletion.

7. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Object to or restrict processing of your data
  • Data portability (receive your data in a structured format)

8. Cookies

We use essential cookies for authentication (JWT tokens stored in localStorage). We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics cookies.
